This paper focused on the relationship between standard and regional languages and tried to find out how local memories are lyricalized. To that end, we investigated the situation of standard language education in Jeju and Okinawa. We also looked into the relationship between these standard language education and the local language through the works of Hyun Ki-young and Tami Saki Yama Ta Mi. The reason why tension between Mandarin and local languages was examined mainly in Okinawa and Jeju is that it is not a product of special characteristics, but rather a colony that is inevitably carried out in the repressive system of the national state. In the field of compulsory standard language education, epic memory methods were confirmed through novels by Tami Sakayama and Hyun Ki-young. Such epic strategies were a methodology to express local memories more effectively. The dialect dispute between Okinawa and Jeju leads to the creation of a translated body in which an external language called Mandarin is written on the body. In the violent situation of the birth of a translated body, Okinawan and Jeju literature tried to represent minority voices by expressing new possibilities of local language through literature.
