텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 문부성 『고등소학독본』(1888)의 계량적 분석
일본 문부성이 1888년에 편찬한 『고등소학독본(高等小学読本)』은 한국 개화기 최초의 교과서 『국민소학독본』의 저본이다. 『고등소학독본』은 국민계몽과 부국강병이라는 목표 하에 의무교육제도와 검정제도의 시행 후 교과서의 규범을 보이기 위한 근대 일본의 고등소학교 독본 교재이다. 이는 근대 일본 뿐 아니라 개화기 한국사회와 교육을 이해하는데 매우 중요한 자료이다. 본 연구에서는 251단원, 총7권으로 구성된 『고등소학독본』의 한국어 번역본 데이터를 대상으로 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 활용해 출현 빈도 분석, 연관 분석, 상관 관계 분석을 실시하여 데이터의 계량적 분석을 통해 『고등소학독본』에 담겨진 중점 교육 사항, 교육의 내용과 목표, 권별의 특징과 변화 등을 고찰하였다. 그 결과, ①이과, 역사, 지리, 전기나 일화, 실업, 수신 등의 제재로 나누어 다양하고 폭넓은 주제에 대해 다루고 있다는 점, ②일본은 부국강병을 목표로 문명개화의 필요성, 이과학의 편의성과 합리성, 제조기술의 중요성과 경제성, 세계 시민으로서의 기본 소양과 진취심, 일본 국민으로서 주체성과 자긍심, 애국심을 가질 수 있도록 다양한 소재와 내용으로 교과서를 구성했다는 점, ③학년 별로 난이도가 쉬운 것에서 어려운 것으로, 신변잡기적인 것에서 추상적으로, 흔히 접할 수 있는 것에서 희귀하고 접하기 어려운 것으로, 일상생활 관련 현상에서 지구적･천문학적 현상으로, 일본 국내 도시에서 세계의 도시로, 고대에서 근대로 각 단원의 주제와 내용, 난이도가 시간적, 공간적, 개념적으로 확산･심화되는 양상을 보이고 있다는 점을 객관적으로 파악할 수 있었다. 『고등소학독본』에는 ‘훗날 국가에 대해 다해야 할 본분을 알도록 한다’ 는 교육 목표가 충실히 반영되었으며, 개인적으로는 인간으로서의 소양과 덕목을 강조하고, 국가적으로는 근대화, 세계화, 문명화, 실용화, 산업화에 중점을 둔 근대적 전인교육을 강조했다는 사실을 명확히 하였다.

A Quantitative Study of the Ministry of Education's Kotosyougakudokuhon(Reading book for upper grades, 高等小学読本)(1888) Using Text Mining
Kotosyougakudokuhon (Reading book for upper grades, 高等小学読本) edited by the Japanese Ministry of Education in 1888, a textbook that aims to enlighten people and to establish standard for the upper grade textbook after the formation of a compulsory education, is an important document in understanding modern Korea and Japan’s society and education. It is also considered as the original script for the Korean modern period textbook GukMinSoHakDokBon. In the present research, to understand and analyze the text, text mining method was used to total 7 books and 251 chapters of Kotosyougakudokuhon. In addition, co-occurrence analysis, semantic network analysis, clustering analysis and Correlation analysis was used to further elaborate the topic. Results showed that the textbook ① contains variety of topics, such as science, history, geography, biography, epics, and ethics. ② was organized aiming for national prosperity and military power. The text therefore, explains about the benefits of science and mathematics, importance of manufacturing techniques, basic quality and necessity of progressive mind to be a global citizen, knowledge of history, geography and variety of topics for nourishing patriotisms to achieve the national goal. ③ is arranged to widen the scope chronologically, spatially and conceptually. It also matches with the modern education goal which aims to “acknowledge people about their obligations toward the nation” and to encourage all the individuals to develop patriotism, basic qualities as a global citizen and nationally to acquire modernization, globalization, commercialization and industrialization.
